How To Take A Screenshot With Your Chrome Browser

In a world where digital collaboration and productivity take center stage, it is of the utmost importance that we have efficient and helpful software in our tool kit. One of these tools that you most likely would want close by is screen capture software. While you can find stand-alone solutions, we prefer screenshot software that can be added as an extension to our Chrome browser.

Today we are going to show you how to install screen capture software to your Chrome browser. 

While there are several decent Screen capture software solutions for your Chrome browser available on the Chrome Store, we will use ‘Awesome Screenshot’ and screen recorder as our preferred choice today.

Learn how to install and use Awesome Screenshot with your Chrome Browser 

Step 1 – Go to the Google Chrome Store

Go to the Google Chrome Extension Webstore: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions

Note 1: The Google Chrome Webstore is the official Google web store, so you can be confident that these ‘Chrome extensions’ are legitimate, and safe to add to your chrome browser. 

Note 2: It is very easy to ADD + also to REMOVE Google Chrome extensions without any hassle!

Step 2 – In Chrome store: Search for ‘Awesome Screenshot’

In this case, we have chosen ‘Awesome Screenshot’.  This extension is currently installed by well over 3 million users and has been a favorite choice for many years now. Always good to work with apps that have a good history of updating their tools!

Step 3 – Add the Awesome screenshot and screen recorder to your Chrome Browser

The installation is extremely quick and easy. Simply click ‘add to Chrome’ followed by clicking the ‘add extension’ pop-up.

Step 4 – Complete ‘Awesome Screenshot and screen recorder’ setup 

You will see that a product landing page will open from ‘Awesome Screenshot’. Now that you have installed the ‘Awesome Screenshot and Screen Recorder’ extension, you will be presented with a couple of options in the setup process.

1. You can create an account and sign in. This is an optional step and you can choose to skip this step!
2. You can choose to create a PIN for the ‘Awesome Screenshot’ tool for easy access from your Chrome browser. This is also an optional step and you can skip it if you’d like.
3. Awesome Screenshot will however require you to allow access to your microphone and camera. If you want the tool to function, this is a required step!

Step 5 – Now let’s see ‘Awesome Screenshot’ in action

In our example, we are going to test ‘Awesome screenshot’ by choosing to take a screenshot of a select area on our homepage of studychicken.com. However, ‘Awesome Screenshot’ also allows you to take a screenshot of the entire visible part of a web page or even a screenshot of the entire webpage. This means that you can screen capture elements of the web page that are not visible. 

So, how do we take a screenshot with ‘Awesome Screenshot? In order to take the screenshot with awesome screenshot software, we are simply going to click on the awesome screenshot icon which we installed as a browser extension for our Chrome browser. 

You can see that you can choose to work either in the record section or in the capture section. The record section is meant for video recording, while the ‘capture’ section is meant to take your screenshots. 

 In this case, we simply click ‘selected area’, which will pop up a selection tool that we can use to select the area of our interest. As you can see, you are now able to tweak the selected area before actually taking the screenshot.

You can also observe the option to enter your own specific pixel sizes and you have some of the annotation tools already available on the spot.

Once you clicked capture and have effectively taken the screenshot with the ‘Awesome Screenshot extension’,  you will now have the ability to use all of the available annotation tools. These include cropping, drawing, text, blur function, and more…

Whenever you are satisfied with your editing of the screenshot, you simply click ‘Done’  on the top right of your screen.

You can now download or share your screenshot as an image or as a PDF. You can also choose to print your screenshot or copy it to your clipboard and paste it into a document immediately.
