Install Workona for Chrome Browser
Workona is a helpful Google Chrome Extension that helps us organize and manage our browser tabs into workspaces.
The free account will allow you to create five workspaces. We suggest you use Workona in combination with Google Tab Groups.
To use Workona in combination with Google Tab Groups you will have to install both Workona Tab Manager and Workona Tab Groups Helper.
Do note that you will also have to create an account with Workona for the service to work. At the time of writing, you can create an account with email or google login.
Workona will enable you to:
- Create personal chrome browser workspaces.
- Save your Chrome web browser workspaces.
- Easily switch tabs between browser windows.
- Save your Google Tab groups
- suspend unused open browser tabs – so they do not use computer resources.

- How to install Workona Google Tab Groups Helper
- PIN Workona Extension for easy access.
In our personal experience, Workona is a life-saver. We like how it helps us organize workspaces properly on Google Chrome. I still have many tabs opened across my workspaces, but they are all neatly organized.
Install Workona Chrome Browser Tab & Workspace manager

- Go to the Google Chrome Store for ‘extensions’
- Search for ‘Workona Tab Manager’ Chrome extension
- Select Workona Tab Manager Extension and ‘Add to Chrome’ + ‘Add Extension’
- PIN Google Translate extension (optional)
- Create Workona Account
- Go to the Google Chrome Store for ‘extensions’
- Search for ‘Tab Groups Helper Chrome extension
- Select Tab Groups Helper Extension and ‘Add to Chrome’ + ‘Add Extension’
PD: Only create your Google Tab Groups after having installed the Tab Groups Helper extension!
1. Install Workona Tab Manager for Chrome Browser
Go to the Google Chrome Store
Go to the Google Chrome Extension Webstore: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions
Note 1: The Google Chrome Webstore is the official Google web store, so you can be confident that these ‘Chrome extensions’ are legitimate, and safe to add to your chrome browser.
Note 2: It is very easy to ADD + also to REMOVE Google Chrome extensions without any hassle!
In Chrome store: Search for ‘Workona Tab Manager’
Workona Tab Manager works well for us, but don’t hesitate to let us know which Tab Manager extension for Chrome works best for you.
Add Workona Tab Manager to Chrome Browser
The installation is extremely quick and easy. Simply click ‘add to Chrome’ followed by clicking the ‘add extension’ pop-up.
2. Create Workona Account
In order for Workona Tab Manager to work, you’ll need to create a FREE account with Workona. The Free version of Workona gives you upto five workspace, which is plenty for personal use if you combine it with the Google Tab Groups. For professional use Workona also has premium plans.
You can choose to either create a Workona account via Email or Google Login. Simply follow the steps of account creation until you get to the installation screen as shown here below!
However we are NOT done yet! We still have to install the Workona Tab Groups Helper for our Google Tab Groups to function with Workona.
3. Install Workona Tab Groups Helper
Tab Groups Helper will enable you to SAVE your GOOGLE TAB GROUPS. If you have been frustrated with the fact that Google does not allow you to easily SAVE your Tab Groups in your chrome browser, then you’ll be happy to know ‘Tab Groups Helper ‘ solves this for you.
To install Tab Groups Helper you either start the process from within your Workona account as you can see on the image here or you simply go back to the Google chrome web store for extension – as we have described previously in this installation guide –
- Search for ‘ Workona Tab Groups Helper’.
- Click ‘Add to Chrome’
- Click ‘Add Extension’
Now that you have added the Workona ‘Tab Groups Helper’ to Chrome, we’ll suggest you PIN the Workona TAB MANAGER Extension to your Chrome browser. (optional step). PD: We don’t see the need to PIN the Workona Google Tab Groups Helper.
To PIN the Tab Manager extension, simply click on the ‘puzzle icon’ on the top right of your chrome browser, search for Workona Tab Manager in the list of extensions and click on PIN icon. Note: You can easily Pin or UnPIN any Google Chrome extension whenever you want, and as you see fit!
You are DONE installing Workona! You can now start organizing and managing your personalized chrome browser workspaces. If you have never used any tab manager extensions before and never have used Google Tab Groups, this will possibly blow your mind.
Organizing and managing personalized workspaces online is getting easier – The Chicken recommends the following:
- Use workona to create and SAVE the different browser windows
- Use Google Tab Groups to organize your chrome tabs (Short-term content and permanent digital toolset)
- Use Bookmarks to save interesting content and online tools (long-term & occasional use)
- PIN your Bookmarks main folder to your browser!!!
