Change Your Language and Region Settings on Chrome browser in a few simple steps!
Step 1 – Initiate Search On Google Chrome
In order to easily locate the correct ‘Settings’ tab so that we can alter the way our Chrome browser displays its results, we first start a ‘Google search’. Any search will do!
Step 2 – Click the Google Chrome ‘Settings’ configuration icon
Locate and click the ‘SETTINGS’ or Configuration icon on the top right side of your screen next to the Google search results.
Step 3 – Locate and Click the ‘ADVANCED SEARCH’ section
In this ‘quick settings’ configuration side bar under ‘Using Search’ you can will locate and click ‘Advanced Search’
Step 4 – Change Language & Region in the Chrome browser
Here in the ‘Advanced Search’ settings page, you can choose the LANGUAGE you want Google Search to search for when displaying its results. You can also set the Region where you want Google Search to provide you the search results for.
In this section, you can tweak even further and ask google to search for specific words within a specific region for example but we will not discuss this further in this tutorial.
In our example for this tutorial we switch from ‘any language to ‘Spanish’ and choose ‘Mexico’ instead of ‘any region’. When you have chosen you language and region, you can confirm your changes by clicking ‘advanced search’ on the bottom of this page.
Step 5: Test your Search Result Changes!
In our example, we have changed our ‘any language’ setting in our Chrome Browser to ‘Spanish’ and we have changed our ‘any region’ setting to Mexico.
We will now verify the effect on the google search results. In this example, we search for the word ‘trabajo’ (which means work in Spanish).
Google search results on our ‘trabajo’ query are now showing results in the Spanish language and we can identify the .com.mx and .mx websites on the first page of google.
With this little trick you can now optimize the search results Google Search provides you depending on your personal preference!
If you would enter the word ‘jobs’ in the search bar, google search results will mainly return webpages related to Steve JOBS, rather than search results about ‘jobs’
Hope this short tutorial was useful!
