In this short Google Chrome tutorial, we will show you how to block or manage your website notifications on your Google Chrome browser.

Your chrome browser default setting allows websites to ask you permission to send you ‘push notifications’ for their website or services. These kinds of notifications can be very useful at times to get the most up-to-date news updates or be notified when a new article or video gets published, and so on.

That being said, it can be annoying if you are not at all interested in push notifications whatsoever or you know exactly which website you want to grant such permission if you are continuously bombarded with permission requests to allow notifications as you browse the web.

So, there is a quick way to either stop these notification permission requests altogether or simply manage them more directly. How can we disable or manage notification requests you ask?

  1. Click on 3 vertical dots top right of your chrome browser
  2. Locate and select the ‘Settings Tab’
  3. Locate and click ‘ Security & Privacy’
  4. Locate and select ‘Site settings’
  5. Scroll and find and click ‘Notifications’
  6. On this page, you can BLOCK or ENABLE website notifications –> DONE

Step 1 – Click the Google Chrome ‘Settings’ configuration icon

Find the 3 vertical dots on the top right of your Chrome browser, click it and then locate and click the ‘Settings’ tab

Step 2 – Locate and Click the ‘Privacy and Security’ tab

Locate and Click the ‘Privacy and security’ on the left sidebar of your screen.

Step 3 – In the Chrome browser ‘Privacy and Security’ section –> Locate and click ‘Site Settings’

Here in the ‘Privacy and Security’ section we want to locate the ‘Site Settings’ section and click it.

Step 4 – Now scroll, select and click ‘Notifications’

In this section you will be able to either:

  • Allow sites to ask you permission for them to send you notifications
  • Block, or disable the permission to ask you to send you notifications
  • Add websites manually which are ALLOWED to send you notifications
  • Add websites manually which are not allowed, or BLOCKED from sending you notifications services

When you browse websites on the internet, more often than not, you will be prompted to ‘allow or block’ a website from sending you notifications. As long as this setting is enabled, websites have  permission to ask you. Disable this setting if you do not wish to be disturbed with these pushed permission notifications.

Naturally, if you block websites from sending you notifications, their offered services might not work properly, but you can manage them by adding them manually if required.

ALLOW specific websites to send you push notifications

Manually add trusted websites and allow them to send you ‘push notifications’. Just click on the ADD button and enter the website URL.

BLOCK specific websites to send you ‘push notifications’

Manually block websites from sending or even asking you to send you ‘push notifications’. Just click on the ADD button and enter the website URL of the website you want to deny access to sending you ‘push notifications’

You can always REMOVE or Edit previously added sites in the ‘Allowed or Blocked’ list
