How to use Goolge Translate To Translate Text in web page on your Chrome Browser
Example 1: How To Use Google Translate extension to translate selected text!
So, now that you have installed Google Translate addon to your Google Chrome browser, you are ready to use the extension and translate any selected text online into any language you choose.
In our first example, we are going to show you how to find the translate button so that you can quickly translate the selected text of your choice on a webpage. You can follow the steps to translate any foreign language with any website you’d like.
This Google Translate function of a selected text is especially handy if you want to copy, edit, or share the translated text. If you are only interested in reading, we’d suggest you skip to the Google translate ‘translate entire webpage function’. We describe how to do that in EXAMPLE 2.
(Note that extension installations are browser and user-specific, so if you want it installed in all your different profiles you’ll have to install it again or use the Goolge sync option to have your Google Translate extension available in all your Google Chrome profiles.)
In our example, we go to www.mimundovisual.com in our Chrome browser where we have the Google translate extension installed.
Steps to use Google Translate to translate selected text on a web page
- Select the text in the webpage you want to translate.
- Right-click your mouse or trackpad. In the right-click menu you can observe the ‘Google Translate’ function right there.
- Click the ‘Google Translate’ button
- You now are redirected to a google translate webpage that has already translated that selected portion of text into your default translation language. You can select and re-translate that piece of text in any language you want.
Note: Google Translate also has an option you can select in the user settings which can translate any selected text immediately on the webpage without the right-click, but we have found that function less reliable and therefore do not recommend it. For strictly reading purposes we’d refer you to our ‘How to use Google Translate to translate an entire web page’
EXAMPLE 2: – How To Use Google Translate To translate entire web page?
If you want to translate all the text on your screen, you can use a Google Translate function that allows you to translate the entire webpage at once. This is especially useful if you are interested in translating the text for reading purposes. For editing, sharing, and copying translated text sections we refer you to EXAMPLE 1.
In our example, we are going to translate a full article of the Spanish website www. mimundovisual.com in English
Steps to use Google Translate to translate the full webpage
- Locate the Google translate extension button next to your search bar on the top right of your screen
